Rethinking the Fire Within: Willow Bark and Boswellia

Thursday, February 14, 2019 6:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. CT

Speaker(s):

Kerry Bone, BSc (Hons), Dip Phyto, FNHAA, MCPP

Continuing Education Units: 0

Event Description:

With the clinical focus on bioavailable curcumin as the go-to herbal protocol for any type of heat process in the body, do Willow Bark and Boswellia have any clinical relevance beyond joint health, and have they even been superseded for this? Is Willow Bark a botanical for minor pain that has side effects with little corresponding benefit? Is it just mild herbal aspirin? In this presentation, Kerry will review new experimental and clinical evidence that supports the important roles of these two herbs in a wide range of clinical challenges. In particular, new insights are explored that challenge common assumptions about their clinical uses and mechanisms of action. This webinar will demonstrate the rehabilitative potential of these two herbs and how they are currently grossly underestimated so you can maximize their clinical potential for the benefit of your patients. In this presentation you will learn the properties of Willow Bark and its safety profile, a new key target for Willow Bark involving an important signaling pathway in the innate immune system, the role of both herbs in lung health, the relationship of Boswellia to the blood brain barrier and resultant implications for neuroplasticity, as well as why it is important to meet a defined dosage threshold for Willow Bark.
