Q&A With Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings

Kerri Walsh Jennings lives a busy life. A volleyball champion who has won the Olympic gold medal in beach volleyball three times, Kerri is also a mother and businesswoman. We asked her how she keeps her healthy lifestyle in balance.

Q. What are your favorite Standard Process 21-Day Purification Program shake recipes?

A. Here are two I really enjoy. I start with a few ice cubes and then choose one of these:

Berry Spinach Shake
1 cup water
2 scoops SP Complete®
Handful berries
Big handful spinach
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds

Strawberry Banana Shake
1 cup water, unsweetened coconut milk, or hemp milk
2 scoops SP Complete®
1 banana
Fresh strawberries
Handful kale
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds

I also love this shake, which is perfect for post-purification:

Berry Kale Shake
2 scoops SP Complete®
Blue Diamond® unsweetened chocolate almond milk (use water, unsweetened coconut milk, or hemp milk instead during purification)
1½ cups blueberries or blackberries
Big handful kale
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds

Q. What are your top 3 Standard Process products and why?

A. These products are some of my favorites:

  • Congaplex®: Our entire family uses it to support healthy immune system function.*
  • Multizyme®: Digestive enzymes keep my tummy happy and my digestive engine working well.*
  • MediHerb® Adrenal Complex: As a busy mommy and chasing my fourth gold medal in Rio in 2016, I'm in great favor of adrenal support!

Q. At what age did you start playing volleyball, and what attracted you to the sport?

A. I was 10 for when I discovered indoor volleyball and 22 when I found beach volleyball. I fell in love with the dance of the game; it’s so fluid, dynamic, and beautiful.

Q. How many hours a day do you train?

A. Off-season I train three to five hours a day. The rest of the year I train five to seven hours daily, which incorporates volleyball activities as a well as a ton of cross-training.

Q. What are you most excited about for the upcoming summer games?

A. Winning. Every. Single. Game. And enjoying the journey.

Q. What do you want to do when you retire from professional volleyball?

A. When I retire I would like to continue on my path to self-mastery. My husband and I are starting a leadership academy centered on fitness and volleyball. I'd like to create a retreat program focusing on the holistic (body, mind, and spirit) approach to achieving excellence in yourself, in your life, and on a team. I'd also like to write children's books. Most of all, I'd like to create a career that focuses on my top priorities and passions: family, faith, health, fitness, wellness and inspiring others to live their best lives as their best selves. I'd like to work with Standard Process and shout to the world that proper, whole nutrition is the answer to so many of life's challenges.
