PALMYRAStandard Process Inc., awarded scholarships to 15 local high school students in 2018 to support their attendance at the American Youth Foundation’s (AYF) National Leadership Conference last June in Shelby, Michigan. Later this summer, students visited the company to provide Standard Process President and CEO Charles C. DuBois and their parents with a group presentation about the conference experience.

Standard Process is committed to the whole person, product, planet and posterity. In fulfilling its posterity value, the company supports its employees and their children in many ways, including through AYF National Leadership Conference scholarships that cover tuition, transportation and spending money for each student. The company also gave scholarship recipients a sleeping bag, backpack, headlamp, sweatshirt and beach towel for the trip.

“It is so rewarding to know that we are contributing to the growth of future leaders,” said DuBois. “I have heard first-hand, from students, how they have gained a greater sense of self from their camp experience.”

The AYF National Leadership Conference teaches attendees skills to help develop their minds, bodies and spirits through active learning in a camp environment, preparing them to become better role models for their peers and positive forces of change in their communities.

In order to be a scholarship candidate, students need to be the child of a Standard Process employee. First-year applicants provide a written essay about themselves and participate in an interview with the company’s life coach consultant, Pat Jones. Returning applicants are judged by their previous year’s performance at the conference, as well as a written essay.

A list of participating students by high school follows:

  • East Troy High School: First-year attendee Chloe Williams.
  • Fort Atkinson High School: First-year attendee Brieann Livieri.
  • Oconomowoc High School: First-year attendee Abigail Ploch.
  • Jefferson High School: First-year attendees Josh Emery and Josie Peterson; and third-year attendee Sawyer Peterson.
  • Kettle Moraine High School: Second-year attendee Grace Sueflohn.
  • Mukwonago High School: Third-year attendee Grace Anderson.
  • Palmyra-Eagle High School: First-year attendee Ryan Carpenter; second-year attendees Joey Bartolotta and Morgan Carpenter; third-year attendees Collin Metzger and Morgan Landess; and fourth-year attendees Antonia Bartolotta and Jackie Rosa.

The AYF is a non-profit youth development organization that engages thousands of children, ages 5-18, through leadership camps, conferences and year-round school and community programs. Its mission is to inspire youth to discover and develop their personal best to seek balance in mental, physical, social and spiritual living and to make a positive difference in their communities and in the wider world.
